What is warehouse racking and shelving?

Warehouse racking and shelving (or pallet racking as it is also known) allows for pallets to be stored more efficiently in warehouses, particularly where space is at a minimum. The pallets are stored horizontally on multiple levels in rows, which makes this type of racking and shelving more efficient. As a result, you’ll be able to maximise the available space in your warehouse, hold more stock as well as make the picking process a lot easier for your staff.

What types of warehouse racking and shelving are there?

  1. Adjustable Pallet Racking
Adjustable pallet racking is a dependable system that is extremely popular as a result of being available in a range of different widths, heights (up to 30m) and depths, as well as being simple to install.
  2. Adjustable Pallet Racking Narrow Aisle
Narrow aisle pallet racking is a dependable system that can help to maximise space in warehouses where space is at a premium, and can be used alongside specialist narrow aisle forklift trucks, as well as picking operations that are fully automated.
  3. Drive-In Pallet Racking
Drive-in pallet racking uses the FILO (first in, last out) system to allow for pallets to be accessed from a single aisle using forklift trucks. It allows for bulk storage of a single type of product, in a similar way to block stacking, however it provides a much more efficient solution.
  4. Double-Deep Pallet Racking
Double-deep pallet racking enables the bulk storage of a particular product in pallets that are two deep per side. As a result, warehouse space is maximised, and space efficiency is also improved compared to a standard type of wide aisle racking.
  5. Push Back Pallet Racking
Push back pallet racking uses the FILO system to create lanes in warehouses that are product specific. This means that products are more easily accessible, making push back pallet racking the ideal pallet solution for warehouses and logistical operations that are slow moving. There are two main types of push back pallet racking: cart push back and roller push back, and the type that you require will depend on the needs and requirements of your warehouse business.
  6. Live Storage Pallet Racking
If stock rotation is critical in your warehouse, than a live storage pallet racking system could be what you are looking for as you will be able to access stock more quickly and easily.
  7. Mobile Pallet Racking
Would you like to maximise space in your warehouse with just one operation aisle? With mobile pallet racking, an 80% increase in capacity is possible!
  8. Carpet Pallet Racking
If you need to store flooring that is long or bulky, carpet pallet racking will help to ensure that it is kept safe and secure and that no damage occurs.
