Are you thinking about maximising space in your warehouse? In our latest blog we look at adjustable pallet racking for warehouses in more detail to help you decide if it’s the best option for your business.
What is adjustable pallet racking?
Adjustable pallet racking (APR) is a highly versatile storage option that can be adapted quickly and easily to suit your business’ specific needs, even if you’re storing a large selection of different items.
It is best suited to an industrial warehouse environment, as it can be arranged with any size of pallet, and can also be used for a variety of operations that use a forklift truck. Plus best of all, you do not need specialist handling equipment as you will have direct access to individual pallets – no wonder this racking system is the most commonly used within warehouses throughout the UK!

As adjustable pallet racking is extremely versatile, it can be used across a wide range of industries. If your business’ operations mean that stock needs to be cycled regularly, it will allow you to have a large amount of accessibility. Plus, there will no longer be a need for pallets to be juggled in a space that is confined, therefore making your daily operations much more simple and streamlined.
In addition, it can also be configured and designed to best meet your needs in terms of the space you have available and the items that you store, including the number of rows, height of the racking, aisle width, and how much weight it can bear. You might even be surprised to learn that it’s possible to increase storage capacity even further, as forming a double deep racking system by placing two rows back to back is an option. Lastly, if situations change and you need to unexpectedly alter the type of stock you store, it is quick and straightforward to alter the set up if you need to.
What else do I need to know?
Although the layout of adjustable pallet racking can take up 60% of the total available floor area, depending on the amount of storage space available in your warehouse, this should not be seen as a downside as there are many different height options for you to choose from (based on the amount of headroom that you have.)
In addition, each rack level is able to hold up to 5000kg in weight, depending on the length of the beams used.
